Nation's Largest Vehicle Collision Center Opens In Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, MA — The McGovern Auto Group on Monday held a grand opening for a new collision center in Shrewsbury that's the largest dealer-based body shop in the U.S., according to the company.

The 75,000 square-foot facility is located at 420 Turnpike Road on the site of the former Route 9 flea market. Several buildings on the property were demolished in recent years to make way for new businesses, including the recently opened Floor & Decor home store.

The McGovern facility will service any of the brands sold at its network of dealerships across the Northeast, from Albany to Boston.

"The center’s 40 repair bays can accommodate any passenger or commercial vehicle while specialized zones cater to the intricate requirements of body repairs, paint prep, paint mixing, detailing, and refinishing. The facility also houses four downdraft-enabled paint booths and separate paint system for fleet and commercial vehicles," the company said in a news release.

The new facility will employ about 30 people, but the company is filling 10 more jobs for auto body technicians, painters, estimators and customer service representatives.
