NYC-Born Halal Guys Restaurant Opening Shrewsbury Spot
The new Halal Guys location in a Route 9 shopping plaza will have a grand opening in April.
SHREWSBURY, MA — The first Halal Guys restaurant west of I-495 will open next week along Route 9 in Shrewsbury, according to the company.
The national chain got its start as a food cart in New York City in the 1990s by three men from Egypt and now has dozens of locations from coast to coast. The Shrewsbury restuarant will be the third in Massachusetts outside the Boston area.
The grand opening at 84 Boston Turnpike — the White City plaza — on April 22 will feature giveaways, including a month of free food for the first person in line, plus free food for the next 100 people in line.

The chain serves chicken and beef slaughtered according to Islamic law, plus a falafel vegetarian option. The chain is best known for its combination meat and rice platters
