Police Log: 19 Year Old Arrested For Drunken-Driving

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Dec. 14

7:46 a.m.: A caller reported a hit and run that occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Hartford Turnpike.

8:04 a.m.: An officer took a report of an unregistered motor vehicle on town property on Boston Turnpike. The owner was uncooperative with police.

9:24 a.m.: The Animal Control Officer removed an owl from a chimney on High Street and transported it to the hospital.

10:37 a.m.: A clothing donation box on Grafton Street was vandalized.

11:34 a.m.: Three cars were involved in a crash on Grafton Street. One vehicle was towed but only minor injuries were reported.

1:25 p.m.: A caller from the apartment complex at 465 Boston Turnpike reported a disturbance. An officer responded and had management lock the apartment in question.

2:37 a.m.: A resident of Westwood Road reported that their license plates had been stolen.

2:54 p.m.: An officer from the Shrewsbury Police Department responded to a dispute between three females on Harris Avenue. During the altercation glass was broken.

3:51 p.m.: A caller from Walnut Street spoke to an officer about possible mail tampering.

4:02 p.m.: A resident reported a hit and run that occurred on Main Street on Wednesday. There were no witnesses but red paint was left on the victim’s vehicle.

Saturday, Dec. 15

12:25 a.m.: The Boylston Police Department reported an erratic vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on route 140 south. Shaun Gray, 19, of 14 Atwood Ln. was arrested after he was stopped on Maple Avenue. Gray was charged with defacing property, assault with a dangerous weapon, drunken-driving, marked lanes violation, passing violations, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to stop for police.

2:25 a.m.: Officers stopped a vehicle on Maple Avenue and arrested Erik Sowden, 21, of 15 Fernbrook Rd., Northborough. Sowden was charged with drunken-driving, unlicensed operation, an open container violation and a warrant charge.

10:08 a.m.: An SUV and a tractor-trailer were involved in a crash on Clews Street. No injuries were reported.

12:13 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred inside the ScrubaDub car wash.

2:58 p.m.: A caller requested police assistance with removing shotgun and rifle shells from their Walnut Street house.

6:27 p.m.: A resident of Boston Turnpike reported harassing phone calls.

9:28 a.m.: A caller reported someone ringing doorbells and banging on doors on Spring Street. Officers responded but the area was clear.

10:28 p.m.: A caller reported a hit and run crash at 196 Boston Trnpk.

10:50 p.m.: The Shrewsbury and Upton fire departments battled a blaze on Wesleyan Street.

11:16 p.m.: A caller from CVS reported a shoplifting that just occurred. The suspect was not found.
