SHREWSBURY, MA — Health officials are warning locals to avoid a park at the north end of Lake Quinsigamond due to high levels of fecal bacteria.

Health officials tested the water near Gauch Park earlier this week and found high levels of E. Coli bacteria. People and pets should avoid the water, the Worcester Division of Public Health advised, and no fishing should be done in the area.

Gauch Park is located near the intersection of Main Street and North Quinsigamond Avenue, east of Plantation Street in Worcester.
