Route 140 Closing In Shrewsbury Due To Construction

SHREWSBURY, MA — Drivers in the Shrewsbury area will have to detour around a major intersection for nearly a week this month.

Route 140 will be closed in some way beginning May 16 during overnight hours where the road crosses I-290 near the Boylston town line. The overnight closures, lasting between 10 p.m. and near 4 a.m., will happen every night through May 19.

Route 140 will be fully close to all but emergency traffic on May 16, and possibly extending to May 17 if crews need more time.

MassDOT is in the midst of a larger construction project to rehabilitate the bridge over I-290. The project has been ongoing since summer 2021.
