Shrewsbury Dentist Charged With Attempted Rape Of Child

SHREWSBURY, MA - A Shrewsbury dentist was arrested after an operation designed to target individuals who seek to engage in sexual relations with minors.

Rizwan Baig, 45, a practicing dentist in Shrewsbury, was arrested on Jan. 15 through a joint operation conducted by the Sutton Police Department, Massachusetts State Police High Risk Victims Unit and the Blackstone Valley Drug Task Force.

Baig was in communications with an online undercover Massachusetts State Trooper. He arrived in Sutton under the belief he would be engaging in sexual relations with someone under the age of 16.

He was arrested without any issue, brought to the Sutton Police Department and was processed, bailed and released pending an arraignment in Uxbridge District Court.

Baig was charged with Sexual Conduct for a Fee with a Child, Enticement of a child under the age of 16 and Attempted Rape of a Child.
