Shrewsbury Fire Dept. Warn Drivers Beware On Rte 9 After Car Fire
After dousing the car fire, officials warned the wet road could turn into "a skating rink" due to the cold temperatures.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Route 9 in Shrewsbury was backed up on Thursday morning after a car caught fire. The car was fully engulfed in flames on Route 9 east, officials said, but there were no injuries.
Shrewsbury fire officials warned drivers to drive carefully, even after the crash was cleared — dousing the flames in water helped extinguish the fire but made slippery conditions along the road.
"Unfortunately the incident basically turned Route 9 into a skating rink," the department wrote on Facebook. Drivers should be careful near the Lake Street intersection.
