High School Latin
Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?
Dr. Thompson has been teaching Latin in the Shrewsbury Public School system for 20+ years (https://schools.shrewsburyma.gov/high/people/2134810/heather-thompson). During that time, she has taught all levels of Latin — from Latin 1 to Advanced Placement (AP) — and been involved in numerous activities benefiting the SHS community.
Dozens of Dr. Thompson's students have earned 4s and 5s on The College Board's AP Latin exam. She has chaperoned three (3) overseas trips for SHS Latin students to Italy and Greece; students in her classes are consistently ranked in SHS' Top Ten graduates. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, she has had a lasting and lifelong impact on her students — many of whom cite her influence as the reason they pursued careers in education.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?
She quietly makes a huge difference in the personal and professional lives of her students.
