Shrewsbury Police Honored At Manny 267 Legacy Gala

Officers received recognition for their roles in the life-saving rescue of a man who fell into 42-degree water in March.

SHREWSBURY, MA — The Shrewsbury Police Department was presented with a prestigious honor on Saturday.

Several Shrewsbury officers attended the Manny 267 Legacy Gala, where the department received the Officer Enmanuel “Manny” Familia Legacy Award for Courage and Service. The award celebrates Emmanuel “Manny” Familia's legacy, which exemplified the highest standards of bravery, dedication, and selfless service to his community.

Shrewsbury Officers Kevin Warwick, Chad Chsyna, Corey Vanbeekom, and Chief Kevin Anderson were at the event. Other Shrewsbury police members, who were not able to attend, received recognition for their roles in the life-saving rescue of a man who fell into 42-degree water at Lake Quinsigamond on March 20.

"Their quick teamwork and use of the Manny Tube were instrumental in saving a life that day—truly embodying the spirit of courage and service that Officer Familia represented," wrote the police department in a news release. "We are humbled and proud to carry forward his legacy through our continued commitment to protecting and serving others."
