The majority of the funding will go toward putting extra officers on the street for enforcement campaigns, including the "Winter Impaired Driving Campaign" this month. The officers will be in addition to regular patrol officers and will solely concentrate on impaired driving enforcement.

"We remain committed to ensuring everyone can enjoy a safe and happy holiday season," wrote Shrewsbury police in a statement. "Our goal is to prevent unnecessary crashes and injuries caused by impaired driving. Please drive responsibly and never operate a vehicle while impaired."
