Shrewsbury School Will Be Site Of Active Shooting Drill For 2 Days

The two-day drill will begin Thursday involving local police and fire departments.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Don't be alarmed if you see a large police presence at Spring Street Elementary School in Shrewsbury.

Local police and fire departments will conduct a two-day active shooter drill at the school beginning Thursday morning, according to Shrewsbury police.

"This will be a joint exercise with the Shrewsbury Police Department, Shrewsbury Fire Department, and several other law enforcement and first responder agencies," police said. "This training is designed to improve integration between law enforcement, fire, telecommunicator and emergency medical services (EMS) in active attack/shooter events."

Each day of training will last from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nearby residents can expect to see a lot of emergency vehicles in the area, and there may be loud noises associated with the training.
