Will Shrewsbury Be Impacted by the Government Shutdown?

The federal government shut down on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

With the federal government shutdown beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1, we wondered if any of the impacts would trickle down to local government in Shrewsbury. Some towns are impacted if they have offices that work closely and directly with federal workers.

So, we posed the following question to Shrewsbury Town Manager Daniel Morgado: Will the government shutdown affect any components of Shrewsbury's operations? Is there anything Shrewsbury residents should know?

"We have not observed any as of this moment in time," Morgado said Tuesday morning.

That doesn't mean that you won't be affected, however: it just means that the town, itself, has not yet felt a direct hit. If you need a passport or a gun permit, or a federal loan to buy a house, that will be delayed. See this article on CNN for a breakdown of what you need to know about the shutdown.
