Alleged Serial Shoplifter Confesses To Stealing All Kinds of Stuff At Assembly Row

Gregory Brown, 63, of Dorchester, apparently didn't even bother trying to mislead Somerville Police.

An individual from Dorchester has been charged with shoplifting sunglasses from an Assembly Row store - and could also be charged with shoplifting from several other locations.

While it’s impossible, if not unethical, to say whether he will be convicted, his arrest report states that Gregory Brown, 63, confessed before anyone asked him any questions, which made life easier for police.

On Saturday, May 30, at approximately 6:35 p.m., officers arrived to the Canal St. Saks Off 5th to investigate a reported theft.

Store employees had already detained Brown, who answered “sunglasses” when an officer asked said employees what they thought Brown had stolen.

Police then searched Brown’s backpack. In addition to sunglasses, they say they discovered a pair of Nike sneakers that matched Brown’s shoe size, and he allegedly told them he stole from the Nike Factory outlet in Wrentham.

They also found a J. Crew T-shirt, and Brown announced that he had swiped it from the nearby Assembly Row outlet.

Let’s hope he has an exceptionally talented lawyer.
