Alleged Somerville Daycare Center Kidnapper Arraigned
Sandro Corbelli is being detained by authorities until a full detention hearing can be scheduled.

The man said to have attempted to kidnap a 1-year-old child and fought police at a Somerville daycare center on Tuesday was arraigned on a litany of charges related to the frightening fiasco on Wednesday.
A statement from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office says 38-year-old Somerville man Sandro Corbelli has been formerly charged with kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery of a police officer, and breaking and entering for a felony with a person in fear, among other violations.
According to the authorities, Corbelli kicked in the front door of a daycare center at 17 Dartmouth St. Tuesday morning, struck an adult attendant, made contact with two children, and was bear hugging one of them upon police’s arrival.

Neither of the children were physically injured, but earlier reports say Corbelli briefly gained possession of a police officer’s gun as police struggled to drag him away from the scene.
Corbelli is to be held in state custody until a full detention hearing can be arranged, and his next scheduled hearing takes place on Tuesday, June 2.
