SOMERVILLE, MA — You can keep your potatoes, Idaho. In Somerville, we're fine with our Marshmallow Fluff. The city's quirkiest – and most famous? — export will be celebrated this week at the 16th annual "What the Fluff?" festival.

The festival runs from Sept. 22-26, honoring the invention of Fluff in Union Square. The event went virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic, but scores of local businesses will open their doors – and patios – to mark the Sweet 16 milestone this year.

"Union Square eateries, breweries, cafes, shops, and Fluff fans look onward and fluffward together as each participating business cooks up their own special take on celebrating this Square’s roots," according to the festival's website.
