First, there's the stand-up contest, where 96 aspiring comics compete against each other for a chance to make it into the finals and, ultimately, win the contest. Industry pros are in town all week scoping out the talent. There are preliminary rounds all week, leading into semi-finals and, ultimately, the final round, which will be held Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. at Somerville Theatre. Emmanuel Lewis, who played the famous TV character, Webster, will be receiving the lifetime achievement award. Second, the festival brings top comedy acts to Somerville.
