The fire department released new details about the apartment fire.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The fire department has revealed what it believes to be the cause of a fire that took place earlier this week, as well as additional details of the people who were affected by it.
The department responded to 268 Powderhouse Boulevard shortly after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10. According to Fire Chief Charles Breen, the cause of the fire was not suspicious and likely caused by a candle that was accidentally left unattended.
During the fire, three adults were removed via aerial ladder. One child was saved using a ground ladder. One resident was found unconscious and extracted from the third floor. A total of eight people suffered injuries, with four of them being firefighters.
