SOMERVILLE, MA – The Center for the Arts at the Armory in Somerville is set to hold its annual Night in Bloom Gala in May.

The event will take place on May 11 at the Armory located at 191 Highland Ave.

The gala will showcase The Center for Arts at the Armory as a home for the arts in Somerville through compelling performances, recognition of cultural honorees.

Renowned balafon player, ‘djeli’ and NEA National Heritage Fellow Balla Kouyate, currently based in Medford, will headline the event.

Guitarist Maurizio Fiore Salas will perform for the VIP hour, and DJ Saucy Lady will be play music throughout the night alongside pop-up performances by students from Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center in Somerville.

Three outstanding individuals based in Somerville will be honored at this year’s gala:

  • Deborah Mason of Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center, Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Robert Smyth, Community Arts Advocate
  • IMAGINE / Sneha Shrestha, Outstanding Artist

Tickets are available on the gala’s event platform. VIP tickets are $100 and include an opening reception; general admission tickets are $40.
