Fire Breaks Out At Vacant Restaurant On Somerville/Medford Line
Crews from both cities were called to the building at the intersection of Broadway and Medford Street around 5 p.m. Monday.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A fire broke at at a vacant restaurant in Magoun Square on the Somerville/Medford line Monday evening, reported 7NEWS.
Crews from both cities were called to the building at the intersection of Broadway and Medford Street around 5 p.m. Because the space was empty, the fire burned through part of the building before firefighters arrived.
It is unclear whether the building is completely ruined, officials told 7NEWS. A neighboring sushi restaurant also suffered smoke and water damage.

“We were fortunate that both departments arrived pretty much simultaneously, so we had a lot manpower to get ahead of this,” Somerville Fire Chief Charles Breen told 7NEWS. “Normally, on a fire like this, we can lose the building quite easily.”
No injuries were reported and no further information has been released.
