Firefighters Discover 'Fully Engulfed' Truck in Garage, Person Sent to Hospital
Two residents were displaced and three Somerville firefighters received minor injuries after a Chevy caught on fire in a garage in East Somerville.

One person was sent to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries Thursday night after a 1998 Chevrolet truck caught on fire inside a glass shop on East Broadway.
According to Deputy Chief Patrick Sullivan of the Somerville Fire Department, two residents were displaced by the fire, and three firefighters received minor injuries battling the blaze.
Firefighters responded to 190 Broadway, the address of Glass & Mirror, at about 9:18 p.m., where they found the Chevy truck "fully engulfed in flames," Sullivan said.

There were also reports of people trapped on the third floor of the building, which has the glass shop at street level and residences above, according to the deputy chief.
Sullivan called it "a good size fire." One firefighter twisted an ankle, another received a back injury, and a third got debris in the eye during the incident, Sullivan said.

The person sent to the hospital suffered from smoke inhalation, according to the deputy chief.
Sullivan said the cause of the fire was accidental: a mechanical failure with the truck.
The fire caused about $5,000 worth of damage to the building and another $10,000 worth of damage to contents in the building, he said.
He also said the Red Cross arrived on scene to assist the two people who were displaced.
