Five Things: Beer, Gin, Fiddles and Turning Garbage into Gold

1) Special Reserve Gin Release Party
GrandTen Distilling, from South Boston, is releasing its "bourbon barrel aged, Special Reserve Wire Works Gin" at a special event at Backbar, where they'll be using the gin in a special cocktail. The party is from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
2) Easy Composting: How to Turn Garbage Into Gold
Ann McGovern, consumer waste reduction coordinator at the Massachusetts Deptartment of Environmental Protection, "will demonstrate how to improve your soil while getting rid of nearly half of your household garbage at the same time." It's part of the Somerville Garden Club's monthly series of talks and presentations, which are free. Tonight's is at 7 p.m. at 167 Holland St.
3) Slumbrew Prix-Fixe Dinner at Foundry on Elm
To celebrate Boston Beer Week, enjoy three courses, each paired with a beer from the Somerville Brewing Company, including its new Naked Hopularity, a black IPA. It's at Foundry on Elm starting at 5 p.m.

4) The Fiddlers of Inishbofin
An all-Irish cast of top fiddlers will play their instruments during a theatrical performance. It's at The Burren at 7:30 p.m.
