Homeless Beacon Hill Restaurant 'Pops Up' In Somerville Wednesday

Forced out of Beacon Hill due to redevelopment, a Boston favorite comes to Somerville for one night only.

An embattled Beacon Hill restaurant that closed earlier this year when its building was torn down for redevelopment is making a one-night-only appearance in Somerville Wednesday night.

Villa Mexico Cafe, which for six years served one of Boston's best burritos out of Grampy's gas station on Cambridge Street in Beacon Hill, is holding a "pop up" opening at Magoun Square's Daddy Jones.

On the menu is homemade Mexican food, drinks and music, according to the pop-up event's eventbrite invitation.

There are two seatings, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 8:30 p.m.

Julie King, owner of Villa Mexico Cafe said in an email the Somerville night of dining will give customers a chance to eat their favorite food while King and her daughter, Bessie, decide the future of the restaurant—whether to open in a new space or just do catering.

King may have noticed that Somerville has become a hot location for new restaurants and its residents love burritos. Just saying.
