Household Hazardous Waste Disposal For Somerville To Begin In April

Somerville residents can drop off household hazardous waste on the first Saturday of each month from April through November.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Somerville residents can drop off household hazardous waste on the first Saturday of every month from April through November.

Hazardous waste such as batteries, paints, electronics and more can be dropped off at the Department of Public Works yard at 1 Franey Rd. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to use the Somerville Waste Wizard tool – available in English, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and Nepalese – for information on how to dispose of specific items.

Proof of residency, such as a driver's license or utility bill, is required at the Franey Road drop off site, and must be presented at the guard shack. Drop-off is open to residents only, not contractors. The City reserves the right to refuse drop-off for any reason.

An Environmental Service Guide will be mailed to all Somerville households in April outlining disposal guidelines for several kinds of waste. Somerville residents can have a guide mailed to them by calling 311 (617-666-3311 outside of Somerville).
