Malden Murder Suspect's Body Found in Mystic River

The deceased was accused of murdering a woman in her Malden apartment.

SOMERVILLE, MA - A body that was discovered floating in the Mystic River was identified as Kenneth Manning, 35, of Malden, who was wanted for murder and larceny of a motor vehicle, Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said Wednesday.

Manning was a suspect in the murder of Colleen Russell, 36, who was found dead in her Malden apartment last month.

A passerby reported seeing the body of a deceased male in the Mystic River near the intersection of Shore Drive and Ten Hills Road in Somerville at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the DA said.

The DA said the Manning's body appeared as if it had been in the water for an extended period of time.

The suspect had last been seen on Feb. 16 in Somerville, the DA said.

Police had previously said Manning as often carried a knife and abused controlled substances.
