Postponed: Redbones Pig Pickin'

The annual "Pig Pickin'" at Redbones features slow-cooked whole pigs, and it benefits the Somerville Homeless Coalition.

Update: Redbones has postponed its 'Pig Pickin'" event until Aug. 5 due to weather concerns.

Here's the original post:

The annual outdoor "Pig Pickin'" event at Redbones in Davis Square takes place Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

If you've never been to the Pig Pickin', you're in for a treat. The event features whole pigs slow cooked Southern style and served with sides of slaw, corn on the cob, collard greens, cornbread, veggie kabobs, mac 'n cheese, hot dogs, watermelon, lemonade and other drinks.

It all takes place on Chester Street in an outdoor beer garden-like setting. And there's live music: Springhill Rounders, Bluegrass: The Band, and The Second Line Social Aid & Pleasure Society Brass Band will perform.

What's more, the event supports the Somerville Homeless Coalition.

The rain date is on Aug. 5.
