More Detours Coming To I-93 Exit In Somerville
The off-ramp to Mystic Avenue will be closed this weekend, so crews can conduct rehabilitation work on the lower level of the bridge.
SOMERVILLE, MA — MassDOT will close the I-93 off-ramp at Exit 21, which connects the northbound side of the highway to Route 38 North, to conduct rehabilitation work on the lower level of the bridge.
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18.

- Continue on I-93 northbound to exit 23.
- At the rotary, take the fourth exit to I-93 southbound.
- Take the exit 21 off-ramp to Route 38 (Mystic Avenue).
- Take a left onto Route 38 (Mystic Avenue) southbound.
- Take a left to Route 38 (Mystic Avenue) northbound just before Lombardi Street.
- Take a right on Middlesex Avenue and continue to Route 28 Fellsway northbound.
The bridge repair is part of a $3.27 million District 4 structural bridge maintenance contract awarded to NEL Corporation. Signs, law enforcement details and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
