New Restaurant Opens At Former Johnny D's Site In Somerville
The Davis Square landmark closed in 2016 and was torn down the following year. After years in development, Waikiki has opened in the space.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A poke restaurant that has been in development for several years at the former site of longtime music club Johnny D's is now open.
Waikiki, which in addition to poke offers sushi rolls, juices, smoothies, salad bowls and teas, serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, Eater reported.
The restaurant was first announced in 2018, months after Johnny D's was torn down. The Davis Square landmark closed in 2016 after nearly 50 years on Holland Street, and was torn down the following year.
