New Teen Singing Group: The Somerville Trendsetters

Five things to know and do in and around Somerville on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013.

1) The Somerville Trendsetters
The Trendsetters is a new singing group for Somerville teens up to 18 years old. The first rehearsal is Thursday at 3 p.m. at The Center for Arts at the Armory. For more information, contact Jimmy Del Ponte at jdelponte@somervillema.gov or (617) 625-6600, ext. 2126 

2) Somerville Arts Council Grant Deadlines
Artists looking for a grant from the Somerville Arts Council: the deadline for applying is today.

3) Burning of the Ursuline Convent
Learn about the events and political and social climate that led a mob, in 1834, to burn down The Ursuline Convent in what is now East Somerville. The talk is at 7 p.m. at the James W. Conway Bunker Hill Post 26, 23 Adams St., Charlestown. (In 1834, that area of Somerville was part of Charlestown.)

4) PMRP Fall Fundraiser at Eat@Jumbos!

Stop by Eat@Jumbos today for some pizza or other food; proceeds from the day's sales will benefit the Post-Meridian Radio Players.
