• Somerville Launching Mattress Disposal Program In The New Year (patch.com) — Somerville residents will soon need to buy $55 stickers and schedule pickups through 311 to recycle mattresses and box springs under a new city program starting February 1. Aimed at offsetting rising disposal costs and preventing illegal dumping, the initiative applies to smaller residential buildings with city-managed trash and offers in-person and online sticker purchasing options.
   

• MassDOT's McGrath Boulevard project holds design public hearing (thesomervilletimes.com) — A major redesign of McGrath Highway into a safer, greener boulevard is moving ahead, reshaping a key corridor that links Somerville and Cambridge. With new bike lanes, better GLX and Community Path access, and added open space at Somerville Avenue and Medford Street, residents can expect long-term safety and mobility improvements as design advances toward a 2032 completion.
