Somerville 2025 Election: Jake Wilson Elected Next Mayor
Wilson is succeeding Katjana Ballantyne who was voted out in the preliminary election.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Jake Wilson appears to be on his way to the Mayor's office, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's election.
With 31 of 32 precincts reporting, the former City Councilor had received 8,613 votes to 7,609 for Willie Burnley Jr. Wilson's vote total accounts for 52% of the total ballots cat counting both blank ballots and write-ins. Incumbent Katjana Ballantyne was voted out in September's preliminary election.
Wilson joined the race nearly one year ago intending to bring “accessible, collaborative, and decisive leadership” to the position. Born in Minnesota, Wilson spent the majority of his childhood in rural Iowa. He first came to the Boston area in 1999 when he moved to Brighton. In 2004, he moved to the Winter Hill area with his wife, Catherine where he has resided ever since.

"We have to make sure that we are serving the people. I'm going to roll up my sleeves, we're going to get to work," Wilson said at his election gathering Tuesday night. "We have plans ready to go for a transition team and we're going to hit the ground running."
The City Councilor-At-Large race saw eight candidates vying for four seats. Incumbent Wilfred Mbah is leading the way with 10,748 votes. Fellow incumbent Kristen Strezo appears ot be on her way to another term as well receiving 8,286 votes. Challengers Ben Wheeler and Jonathan Link are in the driver's seat for the other two seats with 8,833 and 6,758 votes respectively.
