Reminder: Daylight Saving Time Begins Tonight

Remember to wake up before 2 a.m. Sunday and set your clocks forward by one hour

Nothing says Daylight Saving Time—birds singing; long summer nights spent on the porch with a nice tall glass of, like, root beer or something; grilling with your friends—than piles of snow and gray March weather.

Right?

Anyway. This is just a friendly reminder that it's "spring forward" time tonight, starting at 2 a.m. Sunday.

You'll need to change your clocks, so as I've done in the past, here are some tips for dealing with Daylight Saving:

  • Remember to set your alarms for 1:50 a.m. That way you can wake up in time to change your clocks at 2 a.m.
  • Do not, under any circumstances, call the the time-of-day telephone number at exactly 2 a.m. If you do, you'll hear a voice that says, "At the tone, the time will be ..." BOOM! (Besides, they don't have time-of-day telephone services anymore because some people are too hoity-toity to call a landline to get the time from a robot voice. Jerks.)
  • Daylight Saving can cause serious fatigue and "jet lag" in some people who are not able to adjust their internal clocks by one hour. Make sure to drink lots of whole milk (at least two liters a day), and avoid natural light for at least a week in order to make the adjustment.
  • Make sure to schedule an important phone call on Sunday at 7 a.m. That way you'll get to wake up before 6 a.m., your time, to hop on the call.
  • It's time to grill some Fenway Franks, regardless of the weather outside.
