RESPOND Gala, Firefighters Breast Cancer T-Shirts
Five things to know and do in Somerville on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.

1) RESPOND Gala
Somerville's RESPOND, Inc. holds its annual gala tonight. Former Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone will give the keynote address. It's at 6 p.m. at the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge.
2) Somerville Firefighters T-shirts Support Breast Cancer Causes
Local 76, the Somerville firefighters union, has designed a line of pink T-shirts in support of breast cancer awareness. Firefighters will be wearing them on the job, and they're selling them to the public, too. They cost $25, and proceeds will be donated to Dana-Farber in the name of a firefighter's wife who's currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Call (617) 623-8866 or email tross@somervillelocal76.com if you want a T-shirt.
3) Union Square Leader Opposes Zoning Proposal
If you didn't catch it, Mimi Graney, executive director of Union Square Main Streets, wrote an interesting blog post about a proposed zoning change in the neighborhood that, she says, would diminish the area's burgeoning commercial growth. Read the blog here.
4) Fall College Fair To Be Held Monday, October 21
Representatives from about 90 colleges will be at the 19th annual Somerville High School College Fair on Oct. 21. It's from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the high school, and you can learn more here.
