Somerville Hotel Celebrates 50-year Anniversary With New Name
The city's Holiday Inn first opened in 1974.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The Holiday Inn on 30 Washington St. was recognized by the city on its 50th anniversary of being a staple in Somerville.
The locale received a citation from the city during the Chamber of Commerce’s Dinner and Powder House Awards event earlier this month. Distinctive Hospitality Group, which owns the hotel, also announced its new title: The Holiday Inn Boston - Cambridge Area.
General Manager Sean Smith expressed pride in the hotel’s longevity and endurance that it has shown since it first opened in 1974.

“This speaks to the enduring quality and commitment of our team, as well as the trust of our guests over the years, especially here in the vibrant Somerville community that we’ve been proud to serve for the past five decades,” Smith said. “We are excited to enter this new chapter with a name that better celebrates our vibrant location and the dynamic communities we serve.”
