Somerville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners Seeking 2 Members

The Board of Commissioners meets once a month and occasionally holds special meetings.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Somerville Housing Authority (SHA) Board of Commissioners is seeking two new members and all residents are invited to apply, the city said in an announcement Friday.

According to the city, boards and commissions offer an opportunity for residents with a range of experience, skills, expertise, and perspectives to share their talents and insights with their community.

The SHA Board of Commissioners sets and revises policies for the housing authority, establishes annual budgets, ensures the housing authority is in compliance with state and federal laws, adopts and revises bylaws, and supports SHA operations. The positions do not have to be filled by SHA residents, but SHA residents are encouraged to apply.

The Board of Commissioners meets once a month and occasionally holds special meetings. Annual stipends for Commissioners range from $8,000 to $10,000 and are paid quarterly. Applications will be reviewed by the Mayor’s Appointments Advisory Committee and new members must be approved by the City Council.
