Somerville Libraries Offering Free CharlieCards During MBTA Shutdowns
Residents can request a CharlieCard at the front desk during normal business hours, while supplies last.

SOMERVILLE, MA — All Somerville Public Library branches are offering free blank CharlieCards during the MBTA shutdowns.
Residents can request a CharlieCard at the front desk during normal business hours, while supplies last.
During the shutdowns, riders can show their CharlieCard to conductors to ride the Commuter Rail in Zones 1A, 1, and 2 at no charge, which may provide faster service than shuttle buses to some destinations.

CharlieCards can also be loaded with money or passes at fare vending machines and select retail locations for easy tapping, online card management, and more affordable fares on rides with transfers.
