Somerville Man Assaults Multiple Students at Tufts Frat House

Police say Jorge Palacios, 23, knocked out one student's tooth with a pair of pliers.

After being turned away from a Tufts University fraternity house, a disgruntled Somerville man decided to take a violent course of action, knocking a student’s tooth out with a pair of pliers and assaulting two others, according to a police report.

On Oct. 3, Jorge Palacios, 23, showed up the house on 80 Professors Row and attempted to gain access. Palacios was reportedly turned away from the home by a student who answered the door. He left the property, but returned just 10 minutes later.

Upon returning, Palacios proceeded up the stairs towards the home’s entrance. A student attempted to stop him, but Palacios reportedly punched him in the face. The student flagged down campus police and informed an officer about the alleged attack.

According to the report, a second and third student confronted Palacios after finding their friend who had been assaulted. Palacios punched the second student twice in the head. When asked for identification, Palacios smacked the third student in the mouth with a pair of pliers and fled the scene.

Police located Palacios in the area and reportedly discovered pliers, wire strippers, tape, and a knife in his backpack. The students identified him as the attacker to police.

He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of burglarious tools and home invasion.
