Somerville Not Moving Forward With Next Part Of Phase 3
Businesses in Step 2 won't reopen on the state's schedule, and strict restaurant guidelines will remain.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Somerville is taking a more cautious approach to Phase 3 Step 2, city officials announced Monday. Businesses and activities will not reopen on the state's schedule, and indoor and outdoor gatherings have a cap of 10 people, unless permitted under city activity-specific guidelines.
Phase 3 Step 2 businesses include indoor and outdoor performance venues, arcades, indoor and outdoor recreation businesses and retail fitting rooms. Capacity increases for gyms and other businesses in Step 2 will not move forward.
Along with a handful of other communities, including Boston and Framingham, Somerville will not move forward with new restaurant guidelines and capacity increases. These include an increase in the number of people allowed to sit at a table, the use of bar seating, reusable menus and shared condiment dispensers.
