• Somerville Resident Dies In Vermont Highway Crash: Report (patch.com) — Somerville readers are learning that 62-year-old resident Janet Montgomery has died after a car she was riding in crashed into a tree on Interstate 89 in Bolton, Vermont. Authorities say the vehicle swerved to avoid a tractor-trailer changing lanes, and although both occupants initially appeared to have minor injuries, Montgomery was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
   

• USNC is seeking candidates for the Somernova CBA Implementation Committee (thesomervilletimes.com) — Somerville residents and neighbors near the Somernova campus are being invited to apply for a new Community Benefits Agreement Implementation Committee that will monitor the project’s commitments. The Union Square Neighborhood Council seeks applicants 16 and older, especially Somerville residents, artists, and CBA veterans, with applications due by January 30, 2026 and interviews planned for February and early March.
   

• Somerville artist Hanneke Cassel will support international students with the Iguana Music Grant (thesomervilletimes.com) — Somerville fiddler Hanneke Cassel has received an Iguana Music Fund grant to help international students attend her advanced Scottish fiddle workshop. Another grantee, Kurt James Werner, will use funding to document local folk tunes and host a tune book read-through at the Somerville Armory, adding fresh energy to the city’s music scene.
