Somerville Police To Host Gun Buyback Event Saturday

Residents will receive a gift card if they turn in unwanted firearms.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The Somerville Police Department and Middlesex Sheriff's Office will hold a gun buyback event on Saturday, Oct. 16.

Residents will be able to drop off unwanted firearms at the Department of Public Works, 1 Franey Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants could receive up to $200 in gift cards for each gun turned in.

Anyone dropping off a gun should have it unloaded, with the safety engaged, in a bag, box or case. Firearms should be left in the trunk of your vehicle upon arrival.

Unwanted BB guns and ammunition can also be turned in for safe disposal but do not qualify for a gift card.
