Somerville Police Recover Gun Connected To Mystic Ave. Shooting
Police said they found an illegal loaded Glock 40 caliber handgun while executing a warrant at 20-year-old Craig Smith's home.
SOMERVILLE, MA — On Wednesday, Somerville and Cambridge police recovered an illegal gun while executing two search warrants in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at 500 Mystic Avenue in February.
Police searched the Cambridge homes of Ibrahim Barry, 18, and Craig Smith, 20, as part of an investigation into the shooting. They found an illegal loaded Glock 40 caliber handgun at Smith’s home.
Barry was arrested for armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and assault and battery by means of a firearm, police said.

Smith was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device, failure to properly store a firearm, and possession of ammunition.
"Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow are very pleased with the results of this collaborative effort,” the Somerville Police Department said in a statement. "Gun violence, particularly violence involving youth in our two communities, has been an ongoing concern and priority for both agencies and we remain deeply committed to aggressively investigating and mitigating such harmful activity.”
