Somerville Poplar Street Pump Station Meeting March 27

The Poplar Street pump station will help mitigate flood risk in Somerville's Ward Two and Three, and help reduce combined sewer overflows.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Somerville will host a virtual community meeting March 27 for residents who want to learn more about the City’s construction of a stormwater pump station at 10 Poplar Street, which is set to begin this spring and continue through 2025.

The meeting will take place virtually at 6 p.m. Residents can register online or call the Engineering Division at 617-625-6600, extension 5400, to register to attend.

At the meeting, City officials will give residents an overview of the construction process and timeline for the pump station, stormwater storage tank, and other utility improvements.

Attendees can learn more about the ways the pump station will help address City and regional drainage issues, and will be able to ask project managers questions directly.

According to a news release, the Poplar Street pump station and underground storage tank “will fundamentally change the way stormwater drainage is managed for approximately 60 per cent of the city.”
