Woman Vs. Raccoon: Somerville Resident Attacked Outside Her Home

The woman suffered facial injuries when the nocturnal creature jumped at her.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A resident is recovering after being attacked by a raccoon this past weekend, according to a report from Boston 25 News.

Katherine Vanbuskirk was attacked in the vicinity of Chester Street on Saturday morning while she was letting her two dogs out in her backyard.

The animal repeatedly bit and scratched her face until Vanbuskirk was able to finally fling it away. She was then able to retreat indoors where she called 911. She has since been treated with rabies shots and antibiotics. Her two dogs were not harmed in the incident.
