SOMERVILLE, MA — Police are investigating a shooting that drew a large police presence to Mystic Avenue on Tuesday.

Police arrested one person near the Healey School and found a gun in the area, the spokesperson said. They put out a description of the car, which was stopped by a Medford police officer near the Middlesex Juvenile Court building in Cambridge.

The Medford Police Department ordered a shelter-in-place at the nearby Missituk School Tuesday afternoon out of an abundance of caution. That order was lifted after about 10 minutes.
Authorities do not know whether the groups are known to each other. They do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the area, but ask residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the Somerville Police Department at 617-625-1600 ext. 7226 or 911 in the event of an emergency.
There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area, Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino said.
