Somerville Veterans Day 2021: 2 Ceremonies Planned
The city will honor veterans with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery and a historic commemoration at Milk Row.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The city of Somerville will host two Veterans Day ceremonies on Thursday to honor residents who have served in the military.
The first event will take place at Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Broadway and North Street. Speaking remarks will begin at 10 a.m., featuring City Council President Matthew McLaughlin and Somerville Director of Veterans’ Services Ted Louis-Jacques. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
The ceremony will be livestreamed on the CityTV Facebook page (facebook.com/SomervilleCityTV) and broadcast after the event on GovTV (RCN channels 13 or 613; Comcast channel 22) and on the city's YouTube channel (youtube.com/SomervilleCityTV). For more information, email veterans@somervillema.gov.

That afternoon, the Somerville Museum, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts and others will commemorate the Somerville veterans buried at or commemorated by the 1863 Civil War Monument in the Milk Row Cemetery. A brief ceremony, accompanied by a bugler, will be held at this historic site from 2:30-3 p.m.
