Somerville Woman Injured While Hiking Mount Moosilauke In NH

Aarushi Talwar suffered a lower leg injury on a portion of the trail consisting of a smooth and slippery ledge.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A Somerville woman was injured Monday while hiking Mount Moosilauke in Benton, New Hampshire, said the NH Fish and Game Department.

Aarushi Talwar, 26, had summited Mount Moosilauke via the George Brook Trail with a companion and was descending the Carriage Road when she suffered a lower leg injury on a portion of the trail consisting of a smooth and slippery ledge.

A Conservation Officer with an ATV and a dozen volunteers from the Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team responded to the Carriage Road trailhead on Breezy Point Road in Warren just before 3 p.m. Unsure how far the ATV would be able to make it, the volunteers continued up the trail prepared to carry the injured hiker if necessary.

According to Conservation Officers, the two hikers were wearing appropriate shoes and were prepared for a day hike.
