10 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Somerville

There are scores of ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend in Somerville. Here are 10 options.

All events are happening on Sunday, March 17, unless otherwise noted.

The Burren
Doors open at 10 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day. Mike Hsu from WAAF and Guinness will be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Irish karaoke. Also, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, catch The Fiddlers of Inishbofin, a musical and theatrical performance featuring an all-Irish cast. What's more, the "SLAM St. Patrick’s Local Artist Market" is on Saturday.

Irish Heritage Party in Union Square
The Somerville Museum is organizing this party in a luxury condo in Union Square. The condo is in a converted church, and there will be Irish music, a keg of Guinness, local beer from Pretty Things and Somerville Brewing Company, and lots of food. The party benefits the Somerville Museum's roof fund, and it's from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at 1 Summer St.

Olde Magoun's Saloon
There will be Irish music and Irish food all weekend. On St. Patrick’s Day you can have a traditional boiled bacon dinner or a New England boiled dinner. Ronan Quinn will play Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Barry & Carlton will play Saturday starting at 8 p.m.

Sally O'Brien's
Special food and drinks all day. Doors open at 12 p.m. The Tom Hagerty Irish Band will play, starting at 3:30 p.m. On Friday there's an early St. Paddy's Day celebration with the Johnny Come Latelies, starting at 6 p.m.

Precinct
The James Christian Band plays at 4 p.m. at the front bar, and Christian McNeill & Seamonsters play at 8 p.m. at the back bar.

PJ Ryan's
Doors open at 10 a.m. for an Irish breakfast. They'll be serving Guinness and oysters and watching Irish sports for much of the day. They'll have live music at night and give-aways throughout the festivities.

"The Irish ... and How They Got That Way"
Playing at Davis Square Theatre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (check times here—Sunday's performance is at 3 p.m.), this show, according to the listing, "is an irreverent but affectionate history of the Irish in America that mingles laughter and sentiment in a tapestry of classical songs and stories as told by Pulitzer-prize winning author Frank McCourt."

Bull McCabe's
Opens at 9 a.m. with a full Irish breakfast buffet. There will be live Irish music from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Ronan Quinn Band plays at 4 p.m. B3 Kings start at 10 p.m.

Saloon
Saloon will be opening early. They'll have a special Irish menu and there will be live music. Also, they'll be serving Irish whisky.

The Independent
This Union Square restaurant will open at 11 a.m., and they'll be serving one menu all day. It will include things like Irish breakfast and corned beef and cabbage. It doesn't have a band this year, which means there's no cover. There will be a DJ in the evening.
