Stalker Busted With Cocaine In His Wallet, Say Somerville Cops

An individual whose name may be Jovani Hernandez has been charged with possession of Class B drugs.

Following and frightening strangers is rarely a good idea, but it becomes an even more problematic course of action when there’s a baggie full of cocaine in your wallet.

Somerville Police say they grabbed an individual named either Jovani Hernandez or Jose Luis Hernandez-Jacinto, 30, of Somerville, after he followed a Somerville couple on Summer Street for several blocks very early on Saturday morning.

When they crossed the street, so did he. When they tried walking in the middle of the road, he did so as well. When they requested that he pass them by, he refused, and when they started running, he chased them until he saw a car/potential witness waiting on a red light on the intersection of School Street and Summer Street.

Based on a description - “chubbyish,” in a turquoise sweatshirt with white stripes - police tracked down Hernandez sitting in front of Bull McCabe’s on 366 Somerville Ave.

Police say Hernandez was evasive with his responses to their questions - hence the confusion about his name- however they say they found a baggie of what they believed to be cocaine in his wallet after a pat down.
