This Weekend in Somerville: Jaws Weekend, Big Basketball Tournament

OPENAIR Circus, Pet Palooza, canoeing, comedy and an art exhibit opening are also happening in Somerville this weekend.

Jaws Weekend
If you can't make it to The Vineyard this weekend, Somerville Theatre will make you happy to be on dry ground. Jaws Weekend features three shark movies—well, two shark movies plus "Piranha." "Jaws" screens a few times on Friday and Saturday. "Piranha," a spoof, screens on Friday and Saturday, and "Deep Blue Sea," a 1999 shark film, screens Saturday at midnight. Sixth Annual Metro Mayors Basketball Tournament

The Metro Mayors Coalition and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council host the sixth annual youth and law enforcement basketball tournament in Somerville on Saturday. Teams from Somerville, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Quincy, Revere and Winthrop will be participating. This is full five-on-five basketball. There will also be a DJ and some dancing. It's from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trum Field courts, 541 Broadway. The rain location will be the Somerville High School gym.

OPENAIR Circus

OPENAIR Circus features about 200 kids who have spent the summer learning things like stilting, juggling and acrobalance. Their training culminates in the OPENAIR Circus, performed in a big tent, on Friday (7 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.). This year, the tent will be at Conway Park.

Pet Palooza featuring Dock Dogs

Dock Dogs are a doggie aquatics team, and they'll be at Assembly Row this weekend for Pet Palooza. It's happening Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event also features pet training workshops, children's activities, vendors and food trucks. Also, Assembly Row will be making donations to local animal non-profits, and your vote counts in regard to those donations.

Canoe for a Cause on the Mystic River
Canoe on the Mystic River and help remove the invasive water chestnut from the river. There will be canoes on a first-come, first-serve basis, but you can always bring your own. The armada leaves the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse, 32 Shore Dr., at 9 a.m. Saturday, and it goes to 1 p.m. You can sign up here.

Comedian Jim McCue
McCue, known as "Boston's king of crowd work," joins fellow Boston comedian Joey Carrol for a night of comedy at Davis Square Theatre. It's Saturday at 9 p.m.
