Voting-By-Mail In Somerville: What To Know
Here's how to apply to vote-by-mail in the Sept. 1 primary and the Nov. 3 presidential election.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Vote-by-mail ballot applications should soon hit the mailboxes of Somerville residents, if they haven't already. Voters can use the ballot application to apply for a ballot for the primary election, general election, or both. In-person voting will also be an option for both elections.
Applications for a Sept. 1 primary election ballot must be returned to the City of Somerville Elections Department by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Ballot applications can be returned by mail (they will come pre-addressed and voters do not have to pay postage), by fax at 617-625-5643, or by scanning and emailing the application to vote@somervillema.gov.
Electronic signatures are acceptable, but your signature has to be similar to your hand-written signature. You can sign your name on a computer or phone using a mouse, finger, or stylus. Typed signatures cannot be accepted.
