'Whitey' Bulger's Companion Pleads Not Guilty to Contempt Charge

James “Whitey” Bulger’s longtime girlfriend appeared in federal court Monday on a contempt charge for allegedly refusing to divulge information about other people who assisted the notorious Boston mobster during the 16 years he spent as a fugitive.
Catherine Greig, 64, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in Boston’s U.S. District Court. She’s currently serving an eight-year sentence for harboring a fugitive and identity fraud.

According to an indictment filed in court, Greig refused to testify before a grand jury during an investigation into “third parties” who aided and harbored Bulger between the years of 1995 and 2011.
Greig was living with Bulger when they were captured in Santa Monica, California, in 2011.

Bulger was convicted in connection to 11 murders in 2013, among other crimes.
Greig is due back in court on Nov. 19.
